Per far fronte alle abbondanti nevicate, avvenute nell'estremo nord della Germania nell'inverno 1952/53, lo sgombraneve rotativo a vapore Henschel Ksl 6481 (costruito nel 1943) fu trasferito da Kessel al deposito di Heiligenwafen. Il 13 febbraio 1953, agganciato alla BR 86 766, è stato imbarcato sul traghetto "Fehmarn", per essere trasferito sull'omonima isola e liberare dalla neve i binari che conducono a Burg.
