l'ho poi trovata su di un sito ceco... ed ho trovato anche altri siti con edizioni precedenti e successive
sono a buon punto nell'approfondimento della questione costruzione e raddoppio linea Verona Kufstein.....

La rinnovata stazione del Brennero fu inaugurata il 12 novembre 1937 alla presenza del Ministro delle Comunicazioni Antonio Stefano Benni.

Data la sua grande importanza, durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale la linea del Brennero fu sottoposta a massicci bombardamenti dell'aviazione alleata.
Il sito dedicato al 450th Bomb Group di Manduria pubblica una serie di interessanti documenti.

TARGET: Brenner Pass. Italy - Railroad
I. CHRONOLOGY
Forty B-24 type aircraft took off at 0830-0854 hours to bomb a section of the Brenner Railroad. There was one early return. Thirty-nine were over the alternate target area at 1230 hours at 19,000 – 21,000 feet and twenty-one dropped a total of 54.5 tons of bombs representing 38 tons of 2000 lb RDX and 16.5 tons of 500 lb bombs. Five aircraft retuned 13 tons of 2000 lb bombs to base and 5 jettisoned in the Adriatic. Seven aircraft returned 11.5 tons of 500 lb bombs to base and 4 jettisoned in the Adriatic. The early return jettisoned 2 tons in the Adriatic. Thirty-six aircraft returned to base at 1550 hours. Two others have returned after stopping at friendly fields for refueling or minor repairs. One is still at friendly field.
II. ROUTE AND ASSAULT
The route was flown 15-20 miles west of the briefed course to the I.P. of Brensanone. From there, a run was attempted on the primary target but it was completely obscured. A 180 degree turn to the left was made to attempt bombing through a hole in the undercast which had been observed on the abortive run and had revealed vital trackage on the railroad line. The visible area however was too small for accurate sighting and only 21 aircraft were able to make a hasty release on the trackage. The return route was as briefed to base. There was no escort. Weather was 9/10 strata-cumulus at 16,000 feet in the target vicinity and 6/10 enroute.
III. RESULTS
Visual observation corroborated by photo-coverage detected bombs bursting along the Brenner Line across a highway. Direct hits were scored on a lumber mill causing a fire. The small opening in the clouds did not permit an adequate bomb run.
IV. ENEMY RESISTANCE
A. Fighters: None.
B. Flak: None.
V. OBSERVATIONS
At 1250-1300 hours from 19,000 feet in the target area, 10-15 P-38's were observed.
At 1325-1350 hours, one ME-109 was observed following the formation at 18,000 feet. ME-109 was out of range and at same altitude of formation.

All'inizio del 1944 le numerose basi aeree dell'area salentina e foggiana entrano in piena operatività.
Il 450th Bomb Group di base a Manduria compie la sua prima missione su Mostar il giorno 7 gennaio 1944 a cui segue quella del giorno successivo su Zara.
Dagli ultimi mesi dell'anno 1944 i B24 "Liberator" di Manduria, affiancati dai gruppi di bombardieri basati nei vicini aeroporti di Grottaglie e San Pancrazio Salentino, iniziano un'intensa attivita di bombardamento rivolta a interrompere i collegamenti tra la Germania e l'Italia lungo l'asse ferroviario del Brennero.

Il 301th Bomb Group faceva parte del 5th Bomb Wing che aveva sede a Foggia e comprendeva il 2nd e il 97th BG di Amendola, il 99th BG di Tortorella, il 301st BG di Lucera, il 463rd BG di Celone e 483rd BG di Sterparone.
Tutte le basi del 5th BW avevano in dotazione i quadrimotori B17 "Flying Fortress" che dalle basi dell'area di Foggia potevano estendere il loro raggio d'azione fino a Berlino.

La Pittsburgh Post Gazette del 15 maggio 1944 riporta la notizia dell'attacco alla linea del Brennero condotta dai B17 "Flying Fortress" del 15th Air Force
