La linea Ceva - Ormea non arrivò mai a Imperia; per anni i treni hanno percorso la valle del Tanaro attestandosi al capolinea di Ormea, una piccola località della provincia di Cuneo che si trova lungo la Strada Statale 28 che unisce il cuneese a Imperia. Prima il vapore, poi la trazione elettrica trifase a cui seguì la trazione diesel con ALn.668 e ALn.663, infine arrivo la chiusura definitiva.
Oggi la Ceva - Ormea è tornata a vivere grazie a Fondazione FS Italiane e mercoledì 8 dicembre 2021 ha regalato un grande spettacolo.
