Come già accennato altrove, furono i VT 08.5 ad inaugurare il servizio TEE il 2 giugno 1957 in Germania. I VT 11.5, causa ritardi nelle consegne, subentrarono successivamente come riportato di seguito.
15 luglio 1957: TEE 74/75 "Saphir" (Dortmund–Ostenda)
14 ottobre 1957: TEE 77/78 "Helvetia" (Amburgo–Zurigo)
2 dicembre 1957: TEE 31/32 "Rhein-Main" (Francoforte–Amsterdam)
23 dicembre 1957: TEE 168/185 "Paris-Ruhr" (Dortmund-Parigi) |

Cambio di programma. Dal 1971, gli Intercity di prima classe per il traffico nazionale offrivano lo stesso servizio dei TEE internazionali, quindi bastava applicare un cartello quando si cambiava tipo di treno. (Foto W. Fiegenbau) |
